Employers

Employers have access to the BIG-register. They can then determine whether a care provider holds the appropriate credentials and is entitled to practise in the Netherlands.

As an employer in the healthcare sector, you are responsible for ensuring the provision of appropriate care services. You must ensure that your staff are fully qualified to practise their respective professions. There are various ways in which you can monitor and safeguard the quality of the care provided by your institution. They include providing regular (refresher) training, or by implementing regular re-assessments of knowledge and skills. Many employers have implemented an active strategy in this area.

By consulting the BIG-register, you can readily establish whether a healthcare provider holds the necessary qualifications and is entitled to practise.
