We administer the registration of healthcare professionals in the BIG-register, doing so on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. We also issue a Declaration of Professional Competence to care providers wishing to practise on the Netherlands on the basis of a diploma awarded in another country.
Re-registration in the BIG-register For three professions re-registration in the BIG-register has been introduced: nurses, midwives and physiotherapists. This means that the registration is always valid for a period of five years as from 1 January 2009. If you meet the criteria for re-registration after five years, you can renew the registration. The first time that the registration actually has to be renewed is on 1 January 2014. Read more
